On Friday evening, during AVnight 1, three audiovisual performances will take place: Andreas Lutz will present his Ars Electronica Prix 2025–awarded project exploring machine language and neural networks; a Spanish trio will showcase an immersive VR spectacle where Andalusian folklore meets AI; and Imaginarium from Italy will offer a 360° performance on planetary boundaries and the human relationship with nature.

Abstract Language Model | Andreas Lutz

  _DE

An audiovisual performance by an artist known for exploring human–machine relations, in which an artificial neural network was trained on complete sets of characters represented in the Unicode standard. The resulting complex data models contain translations of all available human sign systems into equally representable, machine-generated states.
Through the extraction and interpolation of these artificially generated semiotic systems, a purely machine-born sketch of a universal trans-human/trans-machine language emerges.

The project Abstract Language Model was distinguished with the prestigious Honorary Mention at the Ars Electronica Prix 2025.

Ora. The Limits of Planet | Imaginarium

  _IT

An immersive 360° projection performance combining an original score, soundscapes from Earth and Space, and hand-drawn plus digital animation. Inspired by the planetary boundaries framework, it reflects on climate change, biodiversity loss, and the evolving relationship between humans, Nature, and Space. The sonic layer draws on recordings from ESA, ASI, EGO, and INGV. Image and sound together create a contemplative yet unsettling experience that prompts reflection on the consequences of human actions.

An immersive audiovisual performance in virtual reality, inspired by the folklore of Spain’s La Mancha and Andalusia regions. Three artists enter a virtual universe to sculpt a continuously evolving live spectacle.

Virtual instruments, samples of folk songs, drum machines, and synthesizers merge with imagery created in real time by artificial intelligence, which becomes a digital brush guided by human imagination. In this journey through time, music becomes a boundless language, and tradition evolves into the future.
