Gáspár Battha is a new media and light artist whose practice focuses on the relationship between human perception, spatial form, and projected light. Working with light, mirrors, and digital technologies, he creates environments that challenge habitual ways of perceiving space. As an independent visual artist and art director, he develops installations, spatial projects, and audiovisual works for exhibitions, museums, concerts, events, and film productions worldwide, while continuing to pursue his own practice in contemporary light art.
His interest in computer graphics led him to live visual performance as a co-founder of the VJ collective Illuvision, and later to video mapping and spatial media. He studied new media art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, die angewandte, and at Berlin University of the Arts, UdK, where his interests expanded to include computer science, spatial communication, and human-technology interaction.
He has taught at UdK Berlin and currently lectures in the light art programme at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) in Budapest.
